Dental extractions sometimes are necessary for a variety of reasons. Sometimes a tooth has to be pulled because of a severe infection, trauma, extensive decay, mobility due to advanced periodontal bone loss, or by the recommendation of an orthodontist to facilitate orthodontic treatment. In general, we want to avoid having to pull teeth if at all possible as your original teeth are almost always better than anything that can be implanted or achieved with dentures. In some cases though, extraction will help to preserve the health of the surrounding area, entire mouth and even your overall health.
